I’ve Won, I’ve Won! NOT!

First Joke On Me!

This wasn’t meant to be a joke, but it certainly made me laugh at some companies total utter cheek to get you to visit their site.

I signed up to a site called http://archerfish.co.uk as they reward you for clicking on links and reading Emails and you get 25p to get you started (very little). I clicked on lots of paid links, but later realised that each link and email only added an amazing 0.2p or 0.25p to my balance, yes one fifth of a penny and for that you have to stay with the link for at least 10-30 seconds, you can’t open and close straight away or you don’t get paid. You’re lucky if you get as many as 10 clicks available per day, E.g. 2 pence maximum in total. You need £3 before they will pay into a PAYPAL account, so I gave it up as a ridiculous idea (There are lots of much better reward schemes sites that can be worth it, E.g. http://www.rpoints.com).

Anyway, this is the joke. I then received an Email from support@archerfish.co.uk after I left the site, it read exactly as follows:

——————————————————————————-
Contest PTC winner!!! (This was in big, bold letters)

Hello carlospaul,

You have won our Contest Clicks prize!
The prize amount has been added to your account balance.

Congratulations!!!
——————————————————————————-

Wow, I thought, I bet I’ve won something stupid like 50p. So I logged back into the site, which is obviously what they intended and looked at my account statistics:

Earnings
Total Cash Earnings: £ 0.3260
Total Point Earnings: 0

Account Transactions Summary

Cash
Paid To Click Earnings £0.06100
Contest PTC prize £0.01000
Paid Mail Earnings £0.00500
Sign-up Bonus £0.25000

Could this be the lowest amount of money ever won in a competition, (Contest PTC prize £0.01000) 1 whole pence?

Well it made me laugh, but I’ve got an unusual sense of humour. Including the great prize (a one off), about 30 minutes of clicking on links and a few days of reading their so called paid emails, I’ve earn’t a massive grand total of 7.61p on top of the 25p start bonus (not sure where the 0.01p came from). 7.61p done, only another 267p to go get the £2.75 required for payout plus the 25p start bonus = £3. What’s more, you can earn more at first as all the links are initially available, later on if you’re not careful you can waste time on clicks that you’ve already done, this takes even more time. So to get paid £3 it would literally take about 100hrs of work and at least 1 year. You need £10 for a cheque (At least 3 years), LOL. I doubt if a single person has or will ever qualify for a single payment from this so called rewards site. I wouldn’t be surprised if their actual payout system isn’t even enabled as no-one would ever know better.

2nd Joke on Me!

I spent about 5 hours clicking on adverts on another site called http://www.myoffers.co.uk to make myself eligible for a 5 star prize from their selection. There was a decent selection, including a reasonable web cam, an MP3 player, the only catch it seemed was the £2.99 P&P. Well it still seemed worth it.

I selected my chosen gift, a web cam, then sorry temporarily unavailable appeared, so I selected the MP3 player, sorry temporarily unavailable again. I tried every single 5 star prize and got the same and you have to claim within a certain time or lose it. The site then suggested that I pick a 4 star prize instead and in compensation I could pick up to 3, not just 1. The 4 star prizes were all things you can buy from Poundland for £1 or even worse (e.g. a copy of a magazine), and you have to pay the £2.99 P&P for each item, so it’s absolutely ridiculously stupid. What’s worse is I’m also receiving masses of junk email from their sponsors.

I have written them a very nasty Email, which I doubt they will reply to, threatening them with trading standards, giving them 14 days to respond. I will report them as the site is apparently UK based and can’t continue to get away with this. Most people will not bother to follow it up, and this is what they are relying on. Anyway, in a way, I still found their totally utter cheek ripping people off funny! The main thing is I haven’t actually lost any money.

Many so called reward Emails are received many times, but most you can only read once to get your small fraction of a penny payment, wasting even more time for nothing.

Another similar site to Archerfish is http://www.coffeeclicking.com as I earn’t an amazing 6p for 3 months clicking on emails.
