Prepayment Customers – Stop Pay Extra For Your Energy

4 January, 2008 (19:49) | Uncategorized | By: admin

It’s terrible that Npower are about to increase Gas by 17% and Electricity by 13% (The news on 4th January 2007). It’s expected that other companies will follow suit.

What’s more, most low income families use prepayment meters, all gas and electricity companies charge extra for this service, to the very people who can afford it least. Well there is 1 company that don’t charge any extra and are cheaper than Npower anyway. It started as a non profit organisation in 1998 by a group of Christians, it’s aim is to tackle issues of social concern.

So if you are using a prepaid meter and switch to the company I’m about to recommend from a more expensive supplier like Npower, you are going to save more than the price of the increase. Remember it’s the ONLY company that don’t penalise customers for the use of prepayment meters.

The company is called EBICo Ltd and is divided into Equipower (Electricity Supply) and Equigas (Gas Supply). I’m telling you this information because I believe companies like EBICo deserve to do well, I’m not making a penny if anyone signs up through this site.

For more information and to change over supplier, please visit http://www.ebico.co.uk.

IMPORTANT – Ebico NOT as cheap as they used to be!

Since fuel prices went through the roof during early Winter 2008, all the utility companies including Ebico increased their prices significantly.

At the time of writing fuel has come back down in price for a couple of months, yet most electricity suppliers are still charging the much higher rate for energy. I contacted Ebico around 1 month ago and they explained that they are still using stored fuel that was brought when it was highly priced and therefore it takes sometime for the prices to be reduced to the customer. To be fair Ebico didn’t increase their prices for quite sometime after the fuel hike, but even about 1 month ago one fuel company had already reduced their prices, this being The Utility Warehouse at https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk who appeared on BBC Watchdog for a positive reason, also offering a smart meter that can save even more money.

At the time of writing EON at http://www.eon-uk.com are also generally a lot cheaper than Ebico even for prepayment meters. Eon don’t have any contract forcing one to stay with them either, so I’m changing over suppliers and will let people know how I get on.
