Smooch is now the largest dating site in the United Kingdom and his masses of members worldwide. They are getting around 20,000 new members every month at the time of writing. They remain totally free.

Lycos dating appears to have closed down, well in fact Lycos itself seems to have closed. It’s incredible as around 10 years ago it was almost as big as Yahoo and Google, with a TV ad campaign too. It shows how even the largest businesses can go downhill.
Smooch Totally Free Dating continues to go from strength to strength and is highly recommended for people wishing to meet potential partners or even just for friendship like myself (I’m happy single).

STILL FREE, BUT PREMIUM PAID FEATURES NOW INTRODUCED!
Smooch has just been upgraded and there’s more totally free features than ever including a live chat feature. There is however a premium feature now available, yes it had to eventually come to them making money didn’t it? It’s rather disappointing as it’s probably that from now on the best new features will be only available to people that pay. Oh well, you can still use all the original features and more as a totally free member and they still promise this will continue, so it’s still well worth it.
The new feature at the time of writing is bidding using credits for a position on the front page photo wall that is said to bring members a lot of extra interest. Existing members get 500 credits to start with for free, then it costs £3 for 650 credits up to £20 for 8750 credits, the more you buy, the better the value.

Here’s another totally free dating service for people living in the UK, although I prefer Smooch with many more members and a worldwide service. Nevertheless this is a reasonable alternative, or why not join both?
