Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP)
Recently while on a scientific paranormal investigation in an allegedly haunted location (a private residence - sorry, but I am unable to give more details) we captured what seems to be Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP). This is when one allegedly captures the voice of a spirit on electronic recording equipment. Often the voice cannot be heard or is missed by the human ear, but can be recorded nevertheless. It’s usually recorded as a distant voice, so one has to listen to the playback very carefully.
EVP can be captured using any electronic recording equipment, but I recommend a decent digital dictaphone for the best results. Your equipment doesn’t have to cost the Earth, we used an Olympus VN-2100PC Digital Voice Recorder using the standard microphone in built, which current costs £39.99 in Argos (UK), but is available worldwide.
We sat quietly and one member of the group started “asking out”, which is basically attempting to talk to an alleged spirit out loud. He firstly explained that the device in his hand is used to record sound and asked if an alleged spirit would be kind enough to speak into the device and answer his questions. He asked various questions and later we thought we heard something, but I was unsure what it was. On playing the recording back, after 3 questions, straight after we picked up a distinct women’s voice in the distance, answering YES and NO to the questions. One had to listen carefully as the voice was distant and answered immediately after each question without any pause.
We are certain that this voice was paranormal in nature. We were sitting under controlled conditions and everyone was trusted and accounted for. Unfortunately sceptics will still say that someone was there in the distance answering the questions or that we faked the whole recording. Well I know it’s certainly genuine as I was there and the recording was played back straight away - so no-one could have doctored it, but I trust the team 100% anyway. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what evidence one captures of the paranormal, sceptics will always deny it’s existence. If you are a paranormal investigator, then it’s something one has to get used to and accept.
Anyone can capture EVP, but it’s important to be patient. You are extremely lucky if you capture EVP on your first attempt. Don’t give up and keep trying as it normally pays off in the end.

There are generally 2 types of groups, one’s that use psychic investigation techniques and ones that are scientific, some groups fall in between. During the Investigation, we split into 4 separate groups and took it in turns investigating different location in the property. Since the investigation, it’s come to light that we have captured even more EVP. It was captured on another members digital dictaphone in a different part of the building. This recording is just as amazing, this time it’s actually giving a name. Sorry, I can’t give full details as to protect the privacy of the client, but I think this is incredible. Years ago I was sceptical about EVP and I thought that it was either a hoax or it was normal background noises, but I know this EVP is genuine as it was captured during controlled conditions and I was present when one recording was captured. Forget religion and faith, this actually shows real evidence of conciousness and rational thought after we die, it literally proves life after death.
