Is This The Most Unfriendly Traffic Exchange?

14 February, 2008 (06:52) | Uncategorized | By: admin

There are lots of good free Traffic Exchanges out there, they all allow you to surf other peoples sites, in exchange for other people surfing yours.

Traffic Mate 2 appears at first to be a reasonable traffic exchange with a very healthly sign up bonus of 20,000 free credits. The surf ratio is fairly avarage at 1 site viewed per 0.6 credits for free members, although Peak Hour Traffic now offers a better 1:1 surf ratio and a similar sign up bonus.

I signed up to Traffic Mate 2 and I added my sites to promote. After a few days I returned and noticed that 2 sites hadn’t been approved. These sites had been approved fine on other traffic exchange systems, so I couldn’t understand why there was a problem. I then noticed the system said I’d got 2 warnings and if I get 3, my account will be closed down. Firstly I thought this extremely unfair and unfriendly. Instead of providing any sort of customer service, they are giving people warnings for making very easy honest mistakes while simply learning how to use a new system. Then I explored the site and found that certain premium features including cash withdraw were disabled entirely because of my warnings. Many people wouldn’t find this out for months. I wandered how long this would be the case and discovered that the warnings are permanent. Then I found the biggest con of all, they actually charge customers $5 each to get a warning removed, which is absolutely scandalous. I would understand if they gave out warnings for serious offences, for instance linking to an adult site or trying to abuse the system.

There will be people honestly using this system, earning referals, selling / buying credits and possibly making enough cash to withdraw after lots of work. Then they will find they are are forced to pay this scandalous charge, just to remove their warnings and withdraw what they have rightfully earned. Some people will earn commissions and credits, then suddenly find their account closed down, all cash and credits will be lost. No other traffic exchange works anything like this. With another traffic exchange, I made an honest mistake while adding a site and got a friendly and helpful message explaining how to rectify the problem. This is what you’d normally expect from any reasonably company, a user friendly customer service that is there to help you, not punish you for making mistakes. I certainly don’t know any other system that has penalties like this. What’s worse is they are rejecting sites that are perfectly okay on other traffic exchanges creating the warnings in the first place. I had 2 warnings. The 1st warning said that my site had a pop up when closing the site, which it certainly didn’t. The 2nd warning just told me to read the terms and conditions, which no-body normally reads. Well I only need 1 more warning for my account to be terminated, so I certainly can’t risk using their system beyond the free sign up credits as they could delete all my hard earned work. I can’t even use all the features, and I’m certainly not paying them $10 to remove my 2 warnings – this is bordering on a scam.

Luckily I spotted this awful flaw in their system before wasting too much time and/or money on it, to have it all thrown away unfairly. Other people may not be so lucky – so be warned.

Traffic Mate 2 has a friendly smiley face icon on the title bar, but I think it really must be the most unfriendly traffic exchange on the Internet. Unless they change soon, they are likely to upset lots of customers and probably won’t survive too long. I have sent them an Email, advising them how I feel. I’ll leave a comment if/when I get a reply.

If you do sign up, I recommend you try to use the 20,000 free credits, then disappear – this is what they will get and is what they deserve until they remove this extremely unfair system. The problem is, if everyone does this, no-one will be viewing your ads anyway, making the whole thing pointless. I will comment shortly detailing how well my sites were viewed using my sign up free credits, assuming my account doesn’t get terminated beforehand.

Well there’s even more bad news and a small amount of good news. They’ve just disallowed all my links, exactly the same links as I’ve used many times before on numerous other traffic exchanges, these include popular traffic exchanges like Traffic Swarm and Peak Hour Traffic. The only reason I can think of is that I’m using ViralURL which cloaks my affiliate links, but I’ve used ViralUrl for ages without 1 other problem and there’s nothing in their terms and conditions saying it’s not allowed. The only good news is they’ve obviously read my complaint and compromised as I’ve now only got 1 warning instead of 2. Also, because I submitted my sites all at the same time, with the same problem, they’ve decided not to count each one as a separate warning, although they would have done and if it wasn’t for the Email. If I hadn’t complained, I’d now be banned before even being about to use the system. Still, with 1 warning features are still disabled unless I pay $5 to have it removed, so it’s still scandalous. Anyway, I’m close to just giving up, it’s turning out to be a complete waste of time even just trying to use my free credits.
