Sending Free Email Ads Using a Safelist EMailer – My Advice

27 February, 2008 (03:15) | Uncategorized | By: admin

Introduction

If you haven’t heard of a Safe list Email system, it’s a service which allows you to join and send out Emails Ads to members, in exchange for you reading other members Ads. All members are strictly opt in, so you won’t receive any complaints about spamming.

The problem is most safelist members want to make their own money on-line. They tolerate other members promotional Emails just so they can stay a member and earn credits to send out their own emails. Unfortunately, if most people feel this way, often your Emails won’t really be read anyway as most members will skip through it just to take any available credits and close it. These emails usually stand out a mile from others thanks to the sender information and many people use a special Email address especially for junk emails too.

Saying all this, you do normally get some success from this system if you are very clever at wording your ads and you’re selling quality products or services that haven’t been sold too many times before by other members. Ideally, you need to think of something unique to sell that will interest other members, but I know this isn’t always possible.

The Title Is Most Important

When sending out promotional Emails, the title is the most important part, ensure you make you’re main point using the smallest number of characters as some email systems truncate the title if it’s too long, for example, Aim Mail truncates titles over 45 characters. Try to make it stand out as much as possible, perhaps using asterisks either side if allowed. It needs to strike a perfect balance between being catchy while still getting the point across. It’s worth spending at least half your time just working out a good title for your emails, otherwise the rest won’t be read anyway.

Writing The Body Text

When writing the body of your Emails, try to get the main point across in the first sentence. Even if your title is good enough for someone to actually read your body text, they are still only likely to initially read your first sentence or perhaps just skim through it. If this doesn’t instantly interest the reader, he/she will probably just collect their credits and delete it straight away. Spend more time on the 1st sentence, try to layout the text in an easy to read manor and keep it as short as possible while still getting everything across.

Ukdir Safelist

I’m currently trying out Ukdir Safelist. This system can be used worldwide, but judging by the name you’d expect this to attract a higher proportion of members from the United Kingdom, this however if contradicted by the use of dollars ($ – USA) instead of pounds (£ – United Kingdom).

With this system you normally get 500 free credits when joining as a free member. It’s interesting that at the time of writing I recently signed up and got given silver membership for free which is normally $2.39 a month, instead of the standard bronze membership. With silver membership, I got 2,000 free sign up credits and there are various other advantages, see below. I don’t know how long this promotion will last or whether I will stay as a silver member without paying.

Each email can reach a maximum of 200 random members using Bronze membership, but it increases to up to 500 random members with Silver. There are various other even higher membership options available too. Note at the time of writing, they only had just over 200 members, so paid members aren’t yet able to use their membership to full advantage.

With this system there are 2 types of Emails you can send:

  1. 1. Send out Free text Emails that don’t use any credits. With this, you can place your links in the text, but the reader doesn’t earn any credits for clicking any. As a bronze member, you can use this service every 12 hours, as a silver member, every 6 hours.
  2. Send out Free text Emails that use credits, 1 credit per person sent. The difference is you get a special link where the reader earns credits to visit, spending at least 10 seconds on your web site or affiliate link. As a free members, you can use this service twice a day, as a silver member, 3 times a day.

Only gold and platinum members can send out HTML messages, other members are restricted to text only, but any URLs are automatically converted to links.

You can also optionally use credits on banner impressions which are rotated on their site. As a bronze member, it costs 4 credits per impression, but only 3 credits for silver members.

You can earn credits by reading other members emails, and there’s lots of them, so I wouldn’t use your regular email address. They say that as a bronze member you get between 10 and 50 credits randomly for each email link you visit and between 10 and 100 credits for silver members. They say it’s random, but I’m yet to visit a link that earns more than 10 credits at the time of writing, so this at very best is rare.

If you really don’t want to spend time earning credits, you can buy them at various rates, for example, $2.39 for 1,000 or $4.47 for 3,000 at the time of writing. You can also optionally purchase various other advertising campaigns including solo emails to members contact email addresses, not the one used for receiving standard email ads. They haven’t currently got enough members to warrant expensive charges for any of this, but I would expect this to change if the site became more popular in the future.

As with most schemes, you can earn additional credits by referring, rates vary depending on membership. If a referring member purchases a paid membership, you can also earn cash commissions.

In summary, the best part of this system is that it can be totally free and you can continue to send standard emails without any credits. The biggest disadvantage is they have only just over 200 members at the time of writing, which isn’t really enough and you will always be sending the same people.

Ukdir Safelist is growing, while it’s only got 200+ members, you can at least send out Emails to the entire list which can be an advantage. You can then send follow up Emails, knowing that every user has received your previous Email (except for a few brand new members). It has a decent service and I hope it grows. You may be able to send to more users with a much larger Safelist, but your credits will go down quicker with the credit mailer and you can’t send to the entire list for free. I’ve just received an Email explaining why Ukdir Safelist uses dollars instead of pounds, I enclose “Who ever wrote the blog, the only reason why we deal in $ – Dollar and not in £ – British Pounds is that the script is set for Dollars only, and thanks for the write up. :) ”.

UkDir Safelist – A LOT MORE CREDITS PAID PER EMAIL!

UKdir Safelist was giving 10 credits per credit email read when they advertised a random amount between 10 and 50. This was a fault that’s now fixed, making the service a lot better. They didn’t fix the problem before as no-one reported it, like me people probably didn’t know it was actually a fault.

I’ve just received another Email to Ukdir Safelist members, it clarifies some points about my previous opinion. With this in mind Ukdir Safelist is better than I previously wrote. Here is the main body from the Email.

“Please Note: I am not deffending my safelist, just updating the blog that was written about this Safelist.

I have been reading this blog, the same blog link that I sent you yesterday. In this blog it’s says that members are being upgraded to Silver FREE.

This is true, but it also says that they don’t know how long this offer is on for and how long before Silver member are downgraded to Bronze(FREE).
The blog also says that we only have just over 200 members, this is also true.

Well here are the answers:-
1. All members on Silver level, will stay Silver for life or until they terminate there account or upgraded to a better level.

2. The offer of upgrading to Silver will be on until we hit 1000 Silver members. Please Note: all Silver members are paid $1.00 for every referral that joins our Safe list.

3. We have just over 200 members, but we are growing fast. We are having around 4 to 10 new members siging up everyday. Every safelist has to start from the bottom.

4. We are working on a new skin or 2, until then the basic one will have to do. I did have a new skin about 4 months ago, but with the upgrade the skin didn’t work with it.

Well I hope this clears things up for everyone on Silver Level.”

Ukdir Safelist is getting better and better, they are getting new members and I’m enjoying free lifetime silver membership. I recommend you sign up free while they are still giving this away – it’s a good deal, especially if they make it big in the future which is now looking quite likely. Now the random credits is fixed, I’m enjoying up to 100 credits per credit email read with silver membership too.
