Hi all, I know this is a bit of an old topic, however I it's still valid as I do get a bit of traffic from it.
I just wanted to let you know that the HomeHub a can now be unlocked without Jtag and without opening up the router. It's relatively easy to do, takes approx j minutes and requires no soldering skills.
Here's the link:

Unlock the BT Home Hub V2.0 (V2.0A):

Many thanks Sharkface, it's the 1st reasonable information I've seen about unlocking V2.0A of the BT Home Hub.

The information looks good and I've even read about a few people's success already, but you can also brick your router if you're not very careful. It involves soldering directly onto the hub's motherboard board and you'll need to buy various resisters to make a JTAG flasher cable yourself, although you can also buy a ready made solution. Even though the ready made JTAG cable is designed for a Linksys router, I suspect it can also be used on the BT Home Hub 2.0 although it's untested so don't blame me if you waste your money, please click here for full details. This ready made JTAG cable costs £7.99 at the time of writing.

The Home Hub 2.0A hack procedure will obviously void any warranty as soon as you open up your BT Home Hub V2.0 (so use entirely at your own risk) and you must ensure you flash it using the correct firmware or the hub will certainly be bricked. Because of the risks involved, I don't recommend you attempt this unless you're using a redundant BT Home Hub V2.0A, also because you're connecting the JTAG cable to the parallel port of your PC there's obviously a slim chance of damaging your port, so to be 100% safe I'd also use an old redundant PC too. Please remember that PJCNET cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by following these instructions or in fact the instructions in the main article above regarding V1.0 of the BT Home Hub, use entirely at your own risk.

I'd be very interested to hear from people who have attempted this hack with any success or failure stories.

Here's the link again as given by Sharkface above:

Unlocking the Home Hub V2.0:

No, unfortunately I still haven't found a full solution YET, but I do have some important information towards unlocking the BT Home Hub V2 so far. Apparently the BT Home Hub V2.0 is really a Thomson TG797N Router that's been specially flashed with the BT firmware in a similar way to V1.0 of the BT Home Hub which is really a Thomson 7G Router.

If anyone can get the Firmware for the TG797N router then we might be in business, unfortunately finding this is easier said than done and yes, I've already tried Thomson's official website. If anyone has a TG797N, then can you backup your firmware and/or is their a flashing utility? If so, please get in touch.

I'm still investigating and will update if I find out any more. If anyone else has had any success, please let me know.

I still haven't come across anyone who has unlocked the newer V2.0 hub as yet although I will update if the situation changes in the future. I will have a redundant V2.0 hub soon as I'm transferring to Sky Broadband. I'll spend some time really looking into it.

IF YOU GET INTO SERIOUS TROUBLE FLASHING YOUR BT HOME HUB:

There is an emergency flash recovery tool on the BT Total Broadband CD provided with the BT Home Hub. See \Utils\UpgradeWizard directory on your CD.

If you don't have your CD see:
http://www.btopenworld.com/broadband/adhoc_pages/hub_firmware.html

Use this recovery utility as a last resort, only if you can't use your hub at all after attempting to flash it. Read instructions very carefully.

PJCNET cannot be held responsible for any problems that arise from flashing your BT Home Hub. Use entirely at your own risk.
