FREEHOSTIA System Down For Days Without Notice During Server Transfers!
Freehostia host this website and their system has recently been down for over 3 days at the time of writing without notice because of an upgrade and obviously this site was totally down. I read their so called warning Email 5 hours after Freehostia sent it and this site was already down so it was far too late to make any alternative arrangements, backup or put a notice up beforehand. It’s been an utter shambles. I couldn’t even book a support ticket with Freehostia as the control panel was totally down too and this is the only way. I tried Emailing them repeatedly to no avail and Freehostia wouldn’t even reply to any of my complaints. When this site came up today at the time of writing, it only stayed up for a few hours and went down yet again on the supposed new servers.
Any decent professional computer organisation would upgrade and maintain servers as they go along and if they did need to perform maintenance that meant taking the server down, they would give customers lots of notice and it wouldn’t be down for more than a couple of hours at the most. Freehostia obviously haven’t got a clue or this situation wouldn’t have happened. Saying this, Freehostia’s main home page stayed up throughout, so they obviously do know how to maintain a server, it’s just that they choose to maintain their own server and no-one else’s.

I now desperately want to move to a new more reliable host even if it means paying a lots more than the cost of the domain, but I can’t transfer my Wordpress SQL database as the control panel is still down.
I hope this site doesn’t go down again, but I assure my readers that I’m doing everything possible to resolve this issue ASAP as I’ve already lost search engine rankings. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The site has gone down occasionally since, but the SQL server is running fast. I will continue monitoring, but we have decided to give Freehostia one very last chance.

The new servers are already repeatedly overloading. The clearly can’t plan ahead of this problem and should have sorted this long ago. This is after weeks of problems transferring to a new data center. Freehostia shouldn’t be in the business of hosting as the don’t know the first thing about server maintenance and upgrades.

We will be moving to another host ASAP as Freehostia technicians are idiots to put is nicely and can’t even tell me when the system will be working properly again.

This site has been down for yet another 5 hours because Freehostia can’t maintain a server. I am currently testing another host and am hoping to move soon.

This site is up and down on a daily basis and Freehostia are giving out various pathetic excuses when it’s because the servers are very overloaded. They don’t know how to maintain a server properly. I am tested out another host provider and have to move soon as this site is either down or running extremely slowly most of the time. Yet Freehostia advertise how fast their PHP server is.

I have just transferred to a new better paid host called Hosting24. It’s great so far – so long to Freehostia and their unreliable servers.

Hosting24 has been very reliable and I thoroughly recommend the service if you are looking for a cheap paid hosting provider. It’s been another day of total disruption thanks to Freehostia. They now took the SQL server down without notice and when it came back up, this site failed with Database errors. Since then it’s been hours of various error messages on this site. It’s finally back up, but it’s running terribly slow. So much for the better server – it’s either overloaded or something else is wrong. Desperately need to find a better host.
