Eyeball Chat Causes the BT Home Hub V2.0 to reset, reboot and restart in an endless loop!
I have been using my black BT Home Hub V2.0 (BT’s broadband router) for many months without any serious problems. As soon as I log into the Eyeball chat client, the BT Home Hub completely resets itself, throwing me out of the Internet altogether within 5 seconds flat and it’s very consistent. It then restarts and reboots through the usual process which takes a couple of minutes. Within 5 seconds of being on-line and connected again, the BT Home Hub resets again and this continues in an endless loop until I close and disconnect the Eyeball chat software.
At the time of writing I haven’t come across any information about this problem anywhere on-line what-so-ever. It’s very important that people know about this problem as thousands of people are using the latest BT Home Hub V2.0 to connect to the Internet in the UK and most people will at first assume the Hub itself is faulty when it isn’t. For some reason the Eyeball chat client software doesn’t appear to be compatible causing BT Home Hub V2.0 to crash and reboot. BT certainly agree after I contacted their Broadband Technical Support on 0800 111 4567.
I can use any other instant messenger software and have used Pidgin, Trillian and Microsoft Instant Messenger in my time without any problems with the same BT Home Hub V2.0.
I have asked for technical support from Eyeball Chat and will update if and when there’s a fix or workaround. I was using Eyeball V3.0.5202 which was at the time of writing the latest version, but I will also test future versions and will also update. In the mean time, please use an alternative broadband router or another instant messenger client.
If you are also experiencing the same problem or have got the Eyeball chat client working with a black BT Home Hub V2.0, please either comment below or write to admin@paranormal-marketing.com as I’d be very interested to know if this problem is widespread, many thanks in advance.
Please watch this space for a fix, workaround or possible updates….

Well I don’t think much of Eyeball Chat’s support. They have failed to reply to my query and are clearly not interested. I have now de-installed Eyeball Chat completely as I cannot find any solution to the problem except to use a different router or different chat client software.
