The Importance of Meditation To All

2 October, 2009 (04:28) | Uncategorized | By: admin

I’m a scientific paranormal investigator, but I’m learning a lot more about my spiritual side in the hope of developing my psychic abilities. To do this I’m currently attending my local spiritualist church on a spiritualist medium course for beginners and I’ve been reading numerous books on the subject.

One of the main principles I’ve been taught is the great importance of meditation, in fact meditating is the single most important practice of spiritualism and/or spiritual enlightenment. It’s not just a good and positive thing to practice if your trying to develop psychic or spiritual abilities although it’s likely that this will eventually happen in course, but it’s also excellent for all aspects of your life and well being. By meditating you can learn to gain knowledge by allowing one to become more spiritual, eventually by putting you in direct contact with spirit, but even if you don’t believe in spiritualism you can still get a great deal out of regular meditation. Please try to stay open minded and you may discover things you didn’t once think existed. As well as becoming more spiritual, meditation is amazing for relaxing, for a great state of mind and even for healing. If you’re stressed or if you suffer from depression, meditation is the ultimate treatment. If you persevere, you will be amazed what you can ultimately get out of meditation. I cannot and won’t explain exactly what you will discover as your meditation will eventually send you on your own personal journey of discovery, self improvement and ultimately enlightenment.

It doesn’t matter when you meditate, but try and allocate yourself at least 20 minutes quiet time each day, you may want to increase this as you become more experienced in future. There’s various positions you can meditate in and there’s no absolute right or wrong position, use the position that suits you best by experimenting, some people however find that lying down isn’t the best position as it can invoke sleep. Please persevere with your meditation as one can’t expect everything to fall into place immediately and too many people give up at the first problem. It can take it can take time, patience and a lot of practice. Your meditation might not go too well at first or even for the first few months or even longer with some people, but I can promise you that if you continue persevering with your meditation, it will be well worth it when you suddenly make an amazing breakthrough.

Some people might find guided meditations useful while others prefer relaxing music or in some situations just silence, experiment and stick to what-ever suits you best. Incense can also help many people to relax during meditation.

Relaxation is the main key to good meditation, once you learn to completely relax and let go of your physical body, you are most of the way there. Once you learn to relax, you then need to learn to clear your mind from all chattering and this can take a lot more practice, one good technique for learning this is to first concentrate on your breathing, but there’s numerous other good techniques that suit some people better than others, again experiment and use the techniques that suit you best. Eventually these meditation techniques will become second nature like learning to ride a bike.

There’s some great books on meditation as well as lots of good advice on-line or please contact your local spiritualist church who will be able to assist you further. Many Buddhist centres also offer help with meditation, for instance, The Buddhist Vihara in Birmingham, UK runs free meditation classes on Mondays (Advanced) and Thursdays (Beginners) at 7.30pm, all people are always very welcome no matter what your religious belief.

If you have never tried meditation, please give it a try as you may be very pleasantly surprised and there’s nothing to lose. If you’ve meditated in the past, but seldom meditate today, try to re-introduce meditation back into your regular routine as you will reap the benefits if you persevere with it. If you practice regular meditation now, then you will agree with my article, please keep it up as you will already have discovered the great benefits first hand. Meditation is an amazing gift that is available to ALL who wish to discover it no matter what your religious background happens to be. If a lot more people practised regular meditation, the world would become a far more peaceful, happier, loving and better place to live for all mankind. In my opinion meditation should be taught in all schools from an early age as a key part of the curriculum across the world.
